TALKING WITH YOUR ADMINISTRATOR

Help them see the value for your school.

Your administrator wants to know how this investment will help students. Connect your request to your school’s goals, explain how you’ll use the curriculum, and share how you’ll track progress. Here are a few things you can bring up.

Start with what your students need.

Think about what you’re seeing in referrals, teacher feedback, or your needs assessment. Explain which skills you want to help students develop and how that connects to a school goal, such as attendance, classroom engagement, or peer relationships.

Highlight the research-based curriculum.

Let your administrator know that IMPACT provides research-based classroom, small-group, and individual resources. The curriculum is created by school counselors and gives you a consistent approach to supporting students across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3.

Connect it to the ASCA National Model.

Explain that IMPACT is built around the ASCA National Model and ASCA Student Standards, with many resources supporting CASEL competencies. That framework can help you plan services across grade levels and show how your counseling program fits within your school’s MTSS approach.

Explain how you’ll measure student progress.

Show your administrator how you’ll use IMPACT’s pre- and post-assessments and progress-monitoring tools to check what students are learning. Offer to share those results in a program update so they can see what’s working and where students need more support.

Show how the school can track its investment.

Utilization reports are available to show how often licensed staff access IMPACT and how many resources they download. Alongside the student progress data you collect, these reports help your administrator see how the curriculum is being used.

Connect planning time to student support.

Help your administrator see what having lessons, activities, and data tools ready would make possible in your schedule. Could you offer another small group or reach more classrooms? IMPACT also includes monthly professional development to support you as you implement the curriculum.

Show them what you’ll use! Before you meet, browse the curriculum and choose a lesson or small group that fits a need at your school. It’s easier to explain the value when you can show how you’d use it with your students.

Copy this email, add your administrator’s name and your signature, and include a sentence about how you plan to use IMPACT at your school. Attach your estimate and our W-9 before sending. The email already links to the administrator overview so they can learn more.

Prefer to work from Google Docs? Open the original request template. For a team or multi-year request, include the details from your estimate.

AFTER YOU ASK

I’m here to help with what comes next.

Your school approved it!

Send your approved purchase order to rachel@brightfutures-counseling.com and I’ll help you get started. If your purchasing office needs a vendor form or any other information, send that along too.

Your admin has questions.

Send them the administrator overview for details about the curriculum, standards, and reporting. If there’s something else they need to know, email me. I’m happy to help you advocate for your program.

There isn’t room in the budget yet.

Ask when you can submit a request for the next budget cycle. You can also ask your administrator whether a counseling, curriculum, or PTA/PTO budget could help cover the cost.

Can I ask my school to pay if I already have IMPACT?

Absolutely! Once you have an approved purchase order, send it to rachel@brightfutures-counseling.com. I’ll make sure your current plan is paused as your school-funded access begins so you aren’t double billed. I’ll also make sure you keep all of your credit toward IMPACT milestones!

Does creating an estimate place an order?

No, creating an estimate doesn’t place an order or charge you anything. It gives your administrator the cost to review. Once you have an approved purchase order, email it to rachel@brightfutures-counseling.com.

Can my school purchase IMPACT for more than one staff member?

Yes! Your school can purchase licenses for counselors, special education staff, or other team members who will use the resources. Each person needs their own license. Enter the number of licenses and years in the estimate builder to see any available discounts.

My school needs a vendor form. Can you help?

Of course! Send the form and any instructions from your purchasing office to rachel@brightfutures-counseling.com. I’ll help you get the paperwork your school needs.

YOU’VE GOT THIS!

Let’s ask your school to invest in your program.
