Anger Management Games Chill Zone School Counseling Games
Grades 2-5
This digital resource is available to download immediately after purchase.
The Chill Zone anger management games pack includes five printable games that teach students how to calm down when they feel angry. Every game reinforces the same seven calm down strategies, so students practice each strategy several times in different formats.
These anger management games are suited to small group and classroom use, and they are designed for students in grades 2-5. A snowman on the cover and game board makes the pack a natural fit for the winter months.
Students will learn how to:
⭐ Recognize that feeling angry is okay and that their next choice matters
⭐ Notice what anger feels like in their body
⭐ Calm down with belly breathing, counting to 10 or soft, slow music
⭐ Picture a favorite place, take a break in a calm down corner or go for a walk or run
⭐ Identify a trusted adult or friend at home and at school to talk to
⭐ Distinguish choices that help them calm down from choices that keep anger going
This resource includes:
✔ Board game with a 12-space game board
✔ True or False Anger Scoot: 9 question cards and a student recording sheet
✔ I Have, Who Has game with 8 cards
✔ Matching game with 16 cards (8 strategy pairs)
✔ Roll and Share dice game sheet with 6 discussion prompts
✔ A directions page for each game
Engaging activities include:
Board Game
Players roll a die, advance along the board and respond to the prompt on each space, such as naming a cool down strategy or describing how anger feels in the body. The first player to reach the finish square wins.
True or False Anger Scoot
Question cards are placed around the room. Students rotate from card to card and record whether each statement, such as "Belly breathing is one way I can relax," is true or false.
I Have, Who Has
Each student holds a card with a calm down strategy. Students read their card aloud and call for the next strategy until the chain returns to the first player.
Matching Game
Cards are placed face down, and players turn over two at a time to find matching strategy pairs. The player with the most pairs wins.
Roll and Share Dice Game
Students roll a die and answer the matching question, such as which exercise could help when they feel angry. The first player to roll all six numbers wins.
Why you'll love these games:
⭐ Five game formats provide variety across several group sessions
⭐ The Scoot game adds movement to the lesson
⭐ Low prep: print, cut and add one standard die
⭐ Every game uses the same seven strategies for consistent practice
Repeated practice with a consistent set of strategies prepares students to respond to anger with a plan. These games for anger management build that plan through structured play with peers.
Pairs well with:
Dress an Elf conflict resolution activity
Winter and Christmas counseling activities bundle
