The Friendship Pizza activity is a hands-on friendship craft that helps students recognize what makes someone a good friend. Students build a paper pizza in which the crust and sauce represent the most important friendship qualities and each topping represents an additional trait, such as kind, funny or a good listener.

The friendship pizza craft can be used in small groups, classroom lessons and individual sessions, and it is designed for students in grades PK-3. Finished pizzas also make an easy bulletin board or hallway display.

Students will learn how to:

How it works:

Introduce the recipe
The directions page explains that a pizza needs a strong base, just as a friendship does. The crust and sauce stand for the most important qualities, and the toppings stand for additional traits.

Plan on paper
Students record their crust, sauce and toppings on the fill-in-the-blank page, or draw their pizza and write about each ingredient.

Build the friendship pizza craft
Students who are ready to write label blank pieces with their own traits (Option #1). Younger students assemble pre-printed pieces that already include friendship words (Option #2).
