I’m sure I’m not the only one who was familiar with the ASCA National Model, but didn’t quite know what it meant to see it in action. Of course we all heard of what it meant in grad school, but like many other areas of our profession it is very different when you have to put it into practice with your own students. That’s why I will be walking you through the different steps so you can feel more confident this school year!

In this episode I will be using an example of a student and provide you with the steps you should take during the referral process. From creating goals to collecting data, you will have a clear understanding of how to ensure your program aligns with the ASCA National Model. As an added bonus I will also let you know how to use this information to share with parents and stakeholders.

Some topics covered in this episode are:

  • An example of the referral process using the ASCA National Model

  • How to make objectives that align with the standards

  • Ways you can use the ASCA National Model to advocate for your role

  • Outlining and collecting data during group sessions
