6-Week Group Outline:
Week 1: Feelings vs. Actions
Students begin with an interactive icebreaker and feelings vs. actions card sort to practice separating emotions from behaviors.
Week 2: Calming Strategies
Students learn about anger’s effect on the body and nervous system while exploring calming strategies through a Nervous System Reset scavenger hunt and posters.
Week 3: Consequences and Actions
Students reflect on times they have acted impulsively and consider how giving in to angry impulses can impact themselves and others. They’ll also play an Angry Impulse Charades game.
Week 4: Exploring Feelings
Students use relatable scenarios to identify the hidden emotions underneath anger through the Beneath the Surface activity.
Week 5: Appropriate Behaviors
Students explore anger triggers and role-play different ways to respond. A discussion dice game encourages further conversation and reflection.
Week 6: Anger and the Brain
