The High School College Fair Toolkit is a set of student activities and forms that prepares high school students to attend a college fair with a plan. Instead of only collecting brochures, students use a college fair scavenger hunt and a list of questions to ask at a college fair to hold real conversations with representatives from 4-year colleges, community colleges and the military.

Every tool is included as a printable PDF page and as an editable Google Docs version. The toolkit is designed for students in grades 9-12. Counseling departments, advisory teachers and college access staff can use it for any college fair visit.

This resource will help you:

⭐ Prepare students to approach college representatives with confidence

⭐ Give students a clear purpose at every table they visit

⭐ Introduce students to 4-year colleges, community colleges and military pathways

⭐ Collect family permission and teacher sign-off before the event

⭐ Follow up on what students learned and the next step each one will take

This resource includes:

✔ College Fair Scavenger Hunt (10 challenges)

✔ College Fair Sentence Starters

✔ College Fair Permission Slip (2 pages)

✔ College Fair Exit Ticket (two per page)

✔ Editable Google Docs links for all four tools, with directions for making a copy

A closer look at the tools:

College Fair Scavenger Hunt
Ten challenges, such as Follow the Money, What's the Transfer Plan? and Ask Something You Can't Google, send students to different tables with a specific question for each representative. Students record one thing they learned, and the representative initials the sheet.

College Fair Sentence Starters
A short self-introduction is followed by nine conversation openers about admissions, paying for college, student life, study abroad and preparation for a career after graduation.

College Fair Permission Slip
The form includes event details, student expectations, a parent or guardian signature section, a teacher table that verifies academic standing and a student commitment.

College Fair Exit Ticket
Students name an opportunity to research further, a question that remains, an institution to follow up with and a new fact from the fair, then choose one next step to finish within the week.

Why you'll love this toolkit:

⭐ Editable in Google Docs to match any event or school

⭐ Covers college, community college and military options

⭐ Works for school-wide fairs, field trips and advisory programs

⭐ Supports college and career readiness goals

⭐ Every student leaves with a concrete next step

A college fair is most valuable when students arrive with questions and leave with a plan. This toolkit gives each student a defined task from the first table to the final reflection.
